A long-separated couple finalise their divorce. Ahmad (Ali Mosaffa) returns to Paris from his homeland of Iran at the request of his wife Marie (Bérénice Bejo) who wants to divorce him. When he arrives he finds that his soon-to-be ex-wife has begun a relationship with Samir (Tahar Rahim), a younger man with a child of his own and a spouse.

While they begin proceedings for their separation, all involved are forced to deal with unresolved issues from their past.
